Roles and Responsibilities:
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with 10-12 years of professional experience to take technical ownership of business-critical applications and lead our ongoing modernization and cloud-native transformation initiatives.
The ideal candidate combines deep, hands-on backend expertise in Java/Spring Boot with solid architectural and design judgment and is comfortable extending that skill set to modern React frontends.
Beyond writing code, this person is expected to own solutions end-to-end - from design through production support - mentor other engineers and building the business domain knowledge needed to work directly with stakeholders.
The role is expected to effectively utilize AI tools and techniques to enhance development productivity, code quality, testing, and problem-solving. |
| Key Responsibilities: |
- Own the architecture and design of scalable backend services and REST APIs using Java and Spring Boot, ensuring solutions are robust, secure, and production-grade.
- Design, develop, and maintain frontend applications using React, integrating cleanly with backend systems.
- Take end-to-end ownership of deliverables - from design and development through deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
- Lead or contribute significantly to application modernization efforts, including migrating legacy integration platforms to modern, cloud-native architectures.
- Containerize and operate services using Podman/Kubernetes, and build/maintain CI/CD pipelines for reliable delivery.
- Mentor other engineers, share architectural and design expertise, and raise the technical bar across the team.
- Use AI-assisted development tools and techniques responsibly to improve productivity and software quality.
- Write clean, efficient, secure, and well-tested code; champion best practices through code reviews and technical discussions.
- Troubleshoot production issues and provide reliable, sustained application support.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, QA engineers, business stakeholders, and other developers, participating fully in Agile ceremonies.
- Build and apply business domain knowledge to make informed technical trade-offs and engage directly with business stakeholders.

| Mandatory： |
- 10-12 years of professional software engineering experience, with demonstrated architectural and design ownership of production systems.
- Strong, hands-on proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, with deep hands-on expertise rather than surface-level familiarity.
- Proven experience developing RESTful APIs and working with relational databases.
- Solid, practical experience with DevOps practices, Podman, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Demonstrated ability to take end-to-end ownership of deliverables and deliver robust, production-grade solutions.
- Experience mentoring other engineers and acting as a technical point of contact within a team.
- Familiarity with Git, unit testing, and Agile development practices.
- Ability to apply AI tools and techniques effectively in software development.
- Fast learner with a track record of picking up new technologies quickly.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills, including the ability to build business domain knowledge over time.
- Willingness to be based in Tokyo and collaborate directly with local and global business stakeholders.

- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS and cloud-native/microservices architecture.
- Experience with enterprise messaging systems and migrating integration platforms to modern alternatives.
- Japanese language proficiency is a plus.
