Your future department:
Group Compliance / Compliance Planning Department, Anti-Money Laundering/Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) Group, has a mission to maintain proper ANL/CFT control within Nomura. The department Multi-Hat between Nomura Holding (the parent company) and Nomura Securities Co., Ltd (NSC),
The mandate of the team is to ensure compliance with internal and external regulatory requirement of operation and to minimize operation risk, mission is to implement and maintain an industry leading AML/CFT framework in Japan that automatically detects and effectively deals with material ML/CFT risk and to strengthen the AML/CFT management system of the entire Nomura Group.
Further to comply with FSA AML/CFT regulations and guidelines, also FATF recommendations, the department is responsible for promoting advance AML/CFT compliance, handling various matters and responding to authorities. This time, we are looking for an AML Officer to strengthen our AML CFT management system as member of Group Compliance / Compliance Planning Department, AML/CFT Group of Nomura Holding and NSC.
As AML Compliance Officer, you will be required to perform ‘manage the bank activities’, support and drive strategy of AML/CFT initiatives for Japan and overseas. As core member of AML CFT team, you will be required to serve as subject matter expert, framework and standard owner and guardian of front-to-back governance and oversight. In this top priority financial crime risk area, strive to develop and implement a best-in-class second line of defence AML framework that supports Nomura Group business in proactive management of relevant risks, whilst offering a seamless and efficient experience.
As member of this team, you will be led by team lead, partners closely associated with the AML CFT Group as well as collaborate with colleagues from broader compliance, and overseas financial crime team to perform AML focused review, controls and reporting within second line of defence.

Qualifications: |
- Graduate degree with more than 5 years of work experience in financial industry in AML or in Compliance/Risk Management overall
|
|
Responsibilities include but not limited to the following: |
- As the HO AML officer, you will be required to check the status of AML/CFT compliance system at each overseas office and provide necessary reporting and extend required support necessary
- You will be required to work closely with AML/CFT officers in charge of overseas office on a daily basis
- The successful candidate must have extensive practical experience in working closely with overseas offices
- Relevant experience in AML/CFT or other financial crime areas such as transaction monitoring, screening and or surveillance
- Relevant experience in front office ‘know your customer’ business support, compliance or ops related function
- Outstanding ability to understand control standards, articulate requirements, perform review and prepare quality documentation analytically, methodically and meticulously
- Ability to assess and challenge the status quo
- Ability to engage in meaningful and challenging conversations
- Strong control and compliance approach with a clear ‘do the right thing’ mentality
- Strong sense of accountability and ownership
- Strong communication and partnership skills
- Proficiency in English and Japanese native level writing and speaking, knowledge of other languages is a plus.
- Result oriented, dedicated, hardworking, who can work own initiative and can deliver on time with a high level of integrity and flexibility, sense of urgency, attention to detail and quality standards
- JSDA, Securities Sales Representative type 1 license is required (if you do not have the qualification, it will be required after joining)
- Proficient Microsoft office skills.
- Legal background and CAMS certification are a plus
